Digital banking giant Monzo has appointed the former head of global purchasing services for Europe at American Express, Sujata Bhatia as its new chief operating officer.
The news, first reported by Tech Crunch, comes into a position of almost six months in & # 39; after leaving & # 39; a predecessor of Bhatia Tom Foster-Carter.
Foster-Carter left the London digital bank back in November to launch his own start-up of groceries.
Prior to joining Monzo, Bhatia served at American Express for 16 years in various senior management roles and previously worked at Goldman Sachs and Ernst & Young.
Bhatia's appointment, which was confirmed by a bank spokesman, is the latest reshuffle to & # 39; a top for Monzo.
Former employee Simon Balmain, who just started the Monzo name change from Mondo, announced that he left the bank last month to join Nick D & # 39; s new start Aloisio.
Another high-profile employee to leave the fintech was Monzo technology officer Meri Williams, who left the bank in March after just under two years.
Pending approval of the regulations, Bhatia will join Monzo later this year and will help the bank navigate the current turmoil it has.
In early April, it was revealed that Monzo was planning to force 295 staff and executives to receive a 25 percent cut, as founder Tom Blomfield's salary for the following year was completely free.
Despite being on a slightly shaky ground, for the first time in Q4 2019, Monzo became the most switched running account in 20443 net switches.
